Empowering Growth

Our mission is to empower a “bahini”, which means little sister in Nepal, to a life of freedom and to raise awareness about sex-trafficking.

Education

Bahini Scholarship Handouts

100% of our profit from each product we sell, goes towards educational scholarships. Bahini's long term vision is to expand to even more regions and countries to help as many women and girls as possible.

The youngest survivor to receive a scholarship right now is 5 years old and the oldest 26. Besides providing the scholarships, we work to empower and encourage girls to be agents of change in their communities. The scholarships are applied on an individual basis, and includes fees, school books, stationery materials, uniform and extra tuition for selected students. The schools in Nepal vary from government provided, to private boarding schools, to college, and cost an average of 12,000 NPR per year (115 USD).

Independence

It is important to us that our products are made cruelty free and by happy hands.

Rescuing women from trafficking are oftentimes not enough, the lack of opportunities combined with the social stigma and discrimination that sex-trafficking survivors face, makes it difficult for them to reintegrate into society. Without means to earn a living they risk ending up in the hand of traffickers again.

Through Bahini, women who have survived sex-trafficking are employed by our carefully selected Fair Trade certified partners where they learn how to create handicraft renown from their own culture. With fair pay and good working conditions they can finally break the old harmful social stigma, reintegrate into society and be empowered with independence and freedom.

All our Fair trade suppliers work with the WFTO ten principles.
