Discover the milestones that shaped our story
2014

The Beginning

Our founder moved from Sweden to Kathmandu to work as a volunteer for the NGO Change Action Nepal to help survivors of sex-trafficking.

2016

How We Started

After learning about the injustice that survivors face - the idea to start Bahini was born. Our founder met with every Fair Trade certified supplier in Kathmandu to find the perfect partners that shared her vision.

2018

Launch

Late in 2018, Bahini wasofficially launched with a collection of handcrafted Nepalese bamboo scarves.

2020

The New Normal

2020 marked a turning point in the world, which led us to creatively look for new solutions to keep Bahini alive. The artisans were nowworking from the safety of their home, sewing face masks by hand.

2022

New Beginnings

While the world was slowly getting back to normal, we focused on growth by finding new markets and products that fits in the Bahini family.

2022

2nd Market & Product Category

After a successful crowdfunding campaign we launched a new product category with soap bars and introduced to you our second market - Bangladesh!

2023

3rd Market & Product Category

We saved a batch of high quality denim cotton from ending up in landfills. To celebrate our five year anniversary we up-cycled the fabric to sew and handprint our tote bags, and expanded operations to our third market - Guatemala!

2025

New Products

Something new has bloomed in our shops. We launched two new soap bar scents:
Jasmine and Sandalwood.

Looking Forward

We are always aiming to help even more women and girls worldwide and will continuously add more markets with new products to our Bahini family. Stay tuned for what's happening next!
